Orthodox Narrow Broad

Broad-minders, you are different from them(Orthodox and Narrow) because you saw things to the levels that they did not. You read things and believed it happening.
They read the same and experienced something else happen to them. Hence, when they saw something happening against their readings but real to the experience, they choose own experience as knowledge rather than other’s experience through readings.

Example: A man is treated untouchable by other high caste system. Due to this experience, the person will believe his own experience rather the text in the book. The book consists of the pages showing how there is unity in diversity. But, when the reality is harsh, people won’t accept the book language.
This man will develop hatred towards upper caste or other caste people. The same things will be passed on to the next generation. This leads to a narrow mind thinking for generations.

On the contrary, if the man thinks from a different perception then the things will be different. He can think that whatever happened to him shall not happen to anyone else. So, he won’t repeat what happened to him to others. He will tell others to never treat anyone as untouchable. This is broad mind thinking.

Now, the person whose family had been living for generations with the thoughts of treating other’s as lower or higher caste is an orthodox mind.

 

This was just one scenario.

The family that brings you up, feeds the seeds of orthodox developing the narrow mind.

The rhetorical question arises, what about the broad mind ones who are brought up under orthodox people? How do they get different quality of mind against their family origin mind set?

The education centers, friends, the society and most importantly own belief and perception towards the sensational and controversial topics makes the person different.
Isn’t everyone exposed to the same controversial news? If so, how come another person brought up in orthodox sticks to narrow mind? The difference is the one who choses to be different does not let someone else rule them in the family. They share their views without fearing about anyone’s critics.

The one who remains to live with the narrow mind are of two types people: One who blindly follows family rules and beliefs. Another one disagrees with the rules and hence, is not happy to live with it but does not have guts to stand against the family beliefs/rules.

This is the situation, when anything seems to be against their family values/principals, they talk. They call those things bad and gossip about it. They have their own world of right things wherein everything else what others do is considered to be wrong.

There is a fine line between broad and narrow mind people. Broad mind people will discuss the matters. They will look out for solutions. They will appreciate the good things. They are not hypocrites unlike narrow mind people. Narrow mind people pass critics on most people. They visualize themselves as perfectly idealized people. They gossip and have negative perception usually.

Looking at the context, people have already changed for good. But, it is not a completely developed world in terms of thinking quality. It’s still in the process.

Programming Other’s Mind

You may have come across the meme,

”If you want to annoy someone, then repeat the same song that they don’t like. So that, the song gets stuck in their mind.”

It’s true , this works out almost all the times.

We can program other’s mind. Teachers do it daily. We can teach human beings or pets. We can relate this method to religions, communities, organizations, schools, offices, friends and families. Everything is connected internally. Each person’s act is perceived by the viewers either in different or same form. Hence, everything affects everything.

Programming Other's Mind

Programming someone else’s mind is beneficial to change the person for good. If someone has adopted bad habits, it is possible to change them. Yes, there are organizations to change the people. Apart from that, we can do it on a daily basis through daily conversations. Words have the ability to change the person’s thinking direction.

The same applies in curing the patient. Medicines, exercises and rest are recommended for any patient to recover. There are incurable diseases and disorders. But, there are certain diseases/disorders which are curable with long duration of treatments and therapy. Some patients give up sooner or later. Some patients do not have hopes of recovering ever. A hopeless person may fail to follow up therapies. Speaking positive thoughts with the patient can change him/her into a hopeful person. When the patient themselves are motivated by everyone, it is easier for them to take the efforts for their recovery. It is the best practice to program mind of the people suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, depression, or any mental stress because of traumatic events.

 

A positive atmosphere spreads the good vibes around everyone in the room. Similarly,  a negative atmosphere can spread the bad vibes. If there are a few members of family or any team suffering from anxiety, then it is possible for others getting affected later. When a group of people talk negative things every day , it has the effect on a positive person. When a positive person stays  around many negative people, the mind of a positive person will eventually get affected too. Not necessary for a positive person to have the same pattern of negative thoughts. But, emotionally, the person is affected to see so much of negativeness.

 

Manipulation is one of the negative skills of a programming mind. Manipulation can be used for good purposes. But, usually people use it for a negative aim. A person can manipulate another person by speaking negative thoughts about anyone or anything. We should always be able to make decisions and react based on our knowledge. Being manipulated by other person can have adverse consequences.

Another negative thing about programming mind is repeating the same story. When a person repeats an unpleasant story to someone almost every day, a listener begins to feel that this is own story. The one who tells the story feeds the story into the listener’s mind in such a way that it becomes the listener’s story. Unfortunately, negative stories make more impact compared to positive stories.

To heal our feelings, we need to share our secrets. It is a good thing to have someone always listening and giving advice to you. This may not work out well 100% time. When you get a habit of sharing everything about your day and thoughts on it with someone else, you let the person judge your day. There can be an exception, some people don’t judge. But, the ones who judge and analyze your day, tend to advise you. They stress on the things that may not be important for you. This leads to an overthinking mind. Another disadvantage of oversharing your secrets or thoughts is, you are not yourself anymore. You report about your life’s each moment to someone else and they decide things for you. This is not a healthy thing for your mind because it starts losing out the self- logical and self-emotional thinking power.

Programming other’s mind will work easily on those who get easily influenced. It will not work on stubborn people. Considering the people who are living with the same person consistently for a prolong time and the ones who are spending more time every day with the same person are more liable to change their mind.

To conclude, we are programmed from the very first day of our birth. We program ourselves daily by learning through the surroundings. Hence, it is possible to program anyone’s mind. We need to learn to whom we should believe. We should be capable of analyzing negative words in the form of not letting it affect our mind. Let others program you with the positive thoughts but do not let them frame a bad canvas in your mind.

Depressions, trauma events, unfortunate life, and a life with no purpose are the reason that force people to choose suicide or hurt themselves in some way. When you are at your wit’s end , just take a break for a while.

We need to accept the fact that life will never stop teaching us a lesson. It is always a process of learning the life itself or any specific subject. I won’t deny the truth that sometimes life bites us so hardly that no positive quotes or vibes work out. I am not going to write in this post, what are the things you can do to overcome depression. I  have already written about this in other articles on the same site. I can completely understand going through suicidal thoughts is not easy. It does not mean you are a weak person. All I want to say is “You have my empathy.”  By being the part of the life’s rich pageant, you are already a winner.


Remember, you guys are strong and maybe most of you hold the life journeys that no one knows about. No one can walk on your path as bravely as you did. I know there is this void feeling and no room for happiness. Many of you may chase for happiness but may not find it easily. If we could come so far with our super powers then let’s not end it in a bitter way.

Let’s endure the challenging paths for us.

I have helped many people going through suicidal thought and attempt , which has made me write this short post.
